Asian Law Students to present their cases on "Cross-Border Child Abduction" in the Lawasia Moot Competition 2007

Law students from nine countries/regions will be engaged in heated arguments over cross-border child abduction. They are participating teams for the 2nd Lawasia Moot Competition to be held on 6 and 7 June 2007 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre ('HKCEC'). Among the participating teams are law students from The University of Hong Kong (HKU) and Tsinghua University of Mainland China.
The event is held in conjunction with the 20th Lawasia Biennial Conference. HKU is the host for the Competition and the Law Society of Hong Kong is the official sponsor.
The Competition provides law students with an excellent opportunity to develop and present arguments on issues of international and regional interest. The subject for this year is cross-border child abduction.
Teams from universities in Mainland China, Hong Kong SAR, India, Korea, Malaysia, Nepal, the Philippines, Sri Lanka and the Russian Federation will be participating in the Competition. The teams will be adjudicated by eminent judges, practitioners and academics.
The Final Round of the Competition will be presided by eminent judges from New Zealand, Australia and Hong Kong. They are: The Right Honourable Dame Sian Elias GNZM, Chief Justice of New Zealand, The Honourable Chief Justice Gleeson AC, Chief Justice of Australia and The Honourable Mr Justice Bokhary, Permanent Judge of the Court of Final Appeal of Hong Kong.
