Mr. Peter Lee donates HK$3.5 Million In Support of Pioneering Project to Help Those Bereaved by Suicide

Mr. Peter K. K. Lee, vice chairman of Henderson Land Development Company Limited donated HK$3.5 Million at an official cheque presentation ceremony today at the HKJC Centre for Suicide Research and Prevention (CSRP), Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Hong Kong (HKU) to help fund the "Peter Lee - Care for Suicide Survivor Project".
Officiating at this ceremony were Mr. Peter Lee, Professor Lap-Chee Tsui, vice-chancellor of HKU, professor Ian Holliday, dean of faculty of Social Sciences, HKU, and Dr. Paul Yip, director of the CSRP, Faculty of Social Sciences, HKU.
Following the ceremony, Mr. Lee and Ms. Sally Wu, deputy head of the Phoenix InfoNews Channel shared their insights into life and gave their perspectives on suicide prevention in a special "Dialogue for Life" session.
The "Peter Lee - Care for Suicide Survivor Project" studies and provides for the physical and psychological needs of people bereaved by suicide, and investigates the efficacy of follow-up services specially tailored for them.
In partnership with the HKSAR Department of Health, and Department of Pathology at Queen Mary Hospital, this groundbreaking project develops and implements a host of support services for suicide survivors in Hong Kong, including information, immediate psychological assistance, and medium-term counseling help.
About the CSRP
The CSRP is committed to generating, disseminating and applying its specialised knowledge and skills toward suicide prevention through research, training and resource development. The Centre also initiates effective suicide prevention measures as well as building evidence-based local working models through practitioner-researcher collaborations.
