Dean of Engineering aspires to realize his HKU visions

Professor Chew Weng Cho, the new Dean of the Faculty of Engineering of The University of Hong Kong (HKU), aspires to bring the Faculty reaching new heights both locally and internationally.
Professor Chew, who took up the deanship in the summer of this year, is to meet the media tomorrow (September 20). He will share his visions for the development of the Faculty of Engineering, in particular amidst the challenges of globalisation and the new 4-year academic system. The areas he will elaborate on include, curriculum development, student admissions and research direction.
An internationally renowned scholar in electromagnetics and fast algorithms in computational electromagnetics, Professor Chew has lived in the United States for 34 years and has been with the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign of the United States for 22 years before joining HKU.
