Naming Ceremony of the New Building under HKU's Institute of Human Performance

The Institute of Human Performance (IHP) building, recently completed and opened last year, will be named in memory of the late Dr Henry Fok Ying Tung in recognition of his support of The University of Hong Kong (HKU) and his contributions to sports development, at a naming ceremony to be held tomorrow.

Details of the ceremony are as follows:

Date: January 22, 2008 (Tuesday)
Time: 3:00pm
Venue: Henry Fok Health and Fitness Complex,
           10 San Wan Drive, Sandy Bay
           Hong Kong

Officiating guests:

• Dr York Chow Yat-ngok, Secretary for Food and Health, HKSAR
• Mr Ian Fok Chun-wan, Managing Director, Fok Ying Tung Foundation Ltd
• Professor Lap-Chee Tsui, Vice-Chancellor, HKU
• Professor Bruce Abernethy, Director, Institute of Human Performance, HKU

Housing a Fitness Centre, an Active Health Clinic, facilities for sports science and research, and a multi-purpose activity area, this new building under the IHP provides a pleasant and stimulating environment that encourages sports activities and research in an atmosphere of innovation, inspiration and community, reflecting a modern world-class university.

1. Please note that the public light bus route no. 10, which runs between Causeway Bay (near President Theatre, Jaffe Road) and Sandy Bay, provides a service to the Henry Fok Health and Fitness Complex.
2. A shuttle bus (JA7615) has been arranged to pick up press members from Admiralty. Please wait at the bus stop near Café de Coral in Admiralty Centre (Exit A of the Admiralty MTR station). The bus will leave at 2:30pm sharp.
