HKU Launches Mobile Learning Platform, followed by Inter-School Mobile Quiz Contest to promote Mobile Learning and Olympics
04 Jul 2008
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of The University of Hong Kong (HKU) is to officially launch next Tuesday (July 8) the Mobile Learning Platform it developed, which can be used to enhance the quality of teaching and learning.
The Mobile Learning Platform enables students to access learning materials and answer instructors' questions anytime and anywhere. The real-time report system can also help instructors to closely monitor students' learning progress and efficiently adjust teaching pace or materials accordingly. With the broad basis curriculum required under the forthcoming 4-year undergraduate system, the Platform would further enable students to enjoy the benefits of mobile learning in a spacious campus.
To promote mobile learning and to celebrate the Beijing Olympics 2008, the Department will hold an Inter-school Mobile Quiz Contest immediately after the official launch ceremony on July 8 - exactly one month prior to the start of the Olympics. More than 100 students from 18 primary and secondary schools will participate in the contest, in which they will use mobile devices to answer questions related to the Olympics and Equestrianism through the Mobile Learning Platform.
