In recent year, the purchase of health supplements becomes increasingly popular in Hong Kong due to people's growing consciousness towards personal health care. Government.f plements are not rteal Advertisement Ordinance. en hte ing desrie To further understand the health supplements market in Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Health Food Association commissioned The University of Hong Kong Social Sciences Research Centre to collect opinions from at least 1,000 Hong Kong people via telephone interviews.
The key findings include:
- Estimating the market penetration and purchasing pattern of health supplements in Hong Kong
- Regulation on health supplement is generally overlooked by the public
- Safety and quality are critical factors in determining the choice of health supplements
- Precise and accurate information labeling for health supplements is generally supported by the public

1. Ms Angela Lau, President, the Hong Kong Health Food Association
Angela Lau is the President of Nu Skin Enterprises Hong Kong and Macau and the President of the Direct Selling Association of Hong Kong. Besides, in order to promote the development of the health food industry and increase the public awareness of healthy lifestyle, Ms Lau, together with other health food companies established the Hong Kong Health Food Association in April 2005 and Ms Lau was elected as the Founding President of the Association.
