Joint Universities Study Offers Directions for Sustainable Development of Hong Kong’s Construction Industry
18 Nov 2008
Hong Kong's construction output has shrunk dramatically in the past decade. Can the local construction industry survive the prevailing global financial turmoil? Can the industry sustain and continue to contribute to Hong Kong's economy and employment as it has been for decades?
Academics from the Department of Civil Engineering of The University of Hong Kong (HKU) and the Faculty of Construction and Land Use of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), in collaboration with the Construction Industry Institute, Hong Kong (CII-HK), have conducted a multi-disciplinary study entitled "Reinventing the Hong Kong Construction Industry for its Sustainable Development".
They have looked into ways of achieving long-term development for the industry, and identified further opportunities for development.
Members of the media are cordially invited to attend the press conference for releasing the findings of the study. Research team members will also share their expert views over the challenges and opportunities in developing the construction industry. Details of the press conference are:-
