HKU introduces new programme in African Studies – the first of its kind in Hong Kong and Southern China

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) has introduced a new Bachelor of Arts (BA) Programme in African Studies at the School of Humanities, Faculty of Arts. This is the first of its kind in Hong Kong and southern China.
Students from all Faculties can take individual courses for credit in Foundations in African Studies, Introduction to African Linguistics, Swahili Structure and Universal Grammar, Proficiency Course in an African Language, African Music, Arts of West, Central and Southern Africa, Africa-China Relations, and Educational Field Trip to Africa or combine these courses (and others to be considered from lecturers in other programmes with direct expertise on African Studies) to obtain a BA Minor in African Studies.
