“Universities: Will they remain the same?” - Tin Ka Ping Education Fund Distinguished Lecture

What are the challenges facing the knowledge society? Can universities survive the challenges? How are universities changing? Will universities still produce the elite? How is a world-class university to take a lead? Is the change from 3- to 4-year curriculum the answer? Will the current financial crisis make a difference? This lecture will focus on the role of tertiary education in building up the capacity of Hong Kong to participate in the global knowledge economy.
The Distinguished Lecture is organized by Faculty of Education, The University of Hong Kong and funded by Tin Ka Ping Foundation. Details of the Distinguished Lecture are as follows:

Dr Jamil Salmi is the tertiary education coordinator at the World Bank. He embeds the experience of advising over 40 countries in the shaping of their policies of higher education reform. With his collection of innovative ideas and practices in the international arena, he is known for his visions about higher education development as well as his pragmatic approaches to policy issues.
