2009 HKU Concert Series: Jazz Folk from Australia
30 Mar 2009
Award-winning Pianist/composer Matt McMahon and percussionist Simon Barker are two of Sydney's finest improvising musicians. They will join with Peter Scherr, an American bassist/composer, to explore music of compelling simplicity. In concert, Jazz Folk improvise, reinterpret folk and rock classics, and perform original compositions. The trio combines thrilling intensity with moments of meditative calm. This concert will celebrate the release of Jazz Folk's second album, and will include songs by Joni Mitchell, Beck Hanson, and the Velvet Underground, amongst others.
