Japanese pop stars ‘Fu-Fu’ perform at the Summer Institute in the Arts & Humanities
10 Jul 2009
Five young Japanese female singers, ‘Fu-Fu', are invited by the Summer Institute to perform on 15 July 2009 (Wed) at 7:30pm, Loke Yew Hall. The audience will have the opportunity to enjoy the anime theme songs and dance performance as well as having a discussion session with the producers on the formation of idols group in Japan. The group will also share the experience from their lives as idols.
'Fu-Fu' was founded in February 2008. As pop idols in Japan, they started out with street performances but soon repositioned themselves to live performance on stage. In 2009, they took a new direction and came up with the theme of ‘chorus with dance performance'. They perform mainly anime theme songs but also sing a wide variety of 'pop harmony' songs.
Launched in 2009 by the Faculty of Arts, the Summer Institute in the Arts & Humanities celebrates arts in all its diversity through a series of scholarly and creative events, including conferences, seminars, workshops, forums, performances, public lectures, and academic courses. One of the credit bearing courses to be taught in the Summer Institute this year is Creative Industries in East Asia, which this time focuses on the production of pop stars in Japan.
