Book Launch on “Professor Hou Pao-Chang and His Family”

Professor Hou Pao-Chang was the Chair of Pathology at HKU between 1948 and 1960. He was previously a professor at various universities in Mainland China and was very well-respected both within China and overseas. After retiring from HKU, Professor Hou was invited by former Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai to be Vice-President of the Chinese Medical College. Professor Hou was a pioneer pathologist in China and also nurtured a whole generation of doctors and professors, as well as a medical family including Professor Hou Jiancun and Dr Laurence Hou.
The book is sponsored by Dr Laurence Hou, and edited by Dr. Lau Chi-pang and Prof. Liu Shuyong.
Professor Hou's students at HKU: Prof Sir David Todd, Prof the Hon Leong Che-hung, Prof Rosie Young and Prof Lee Kin-hung, will join the book launch to share their memories of the late professor. Representatives from the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government are also invited to the event.
