The Hong Kong Polytechnic University beat The University of Hong Kong in the final match and won the championship of the first friendly table tennis invitation match of senior administrators of higher education in Hong Kong held today (September 20) at Flora Ho Sports Centre of The University of Hong Kong. (September 20).
The second and third runners-up were The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and The Chinese University of Hong Kong. The eight higher education institutions participating in the friendly match were The Chinese University of Hong Kong, City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, The Hong Kong Institute of Education, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Lingnan University, and The University of Hong Kong.
HKU Vice-Chancellor Professor Lap-Chee Tsui officiated at the opening ceremony and joined the kickoff with senior administrators from the higher education institutions. The event's Guests of Honour, Professor Pan Yong-hua, Director General of Education Science & Technology Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government; and Mr Mak Chai-kwong, Permanent Secretary for Development (Works), played a friendly game in the afternoon to conclude the day's matches.
