Setting up a multimedia e-learning classroom for a reconstructed school in Sichuan: project experience sharing and book launching
21 Oct 2009
In early August 2009, a team of 50 students and teachers from the University of Hong Kong, together with members of the 512 Young Engineer Alliance and the Association of Engineering Professions in Society, traveled to Sichuan to help the rebuilding of Yuanjia Primary School in Deyang city. Multimedia classrooms, an e-learning system, satellite education TV and solar-energy systems were installed and the skills of using these systems for teaching and learning were transferred to the teachers there. The first Sichuan-HK online interactive was also conducted successfully in a launching ceremony held at HKU in August.
Recently, a book "Sichuan Reconstruction by Hong Kong Professions" and a DVD about the project have been published. HKU volunteers, and teachers and students from primary schools who have contributed to the project will share their experience in the book launching ceremony at HKU.
