The University of Hong Kong holds 181st Congregation

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) will be conferring an honorary degree upon Nobel Laureate in Chemistry Professor Roger Yonchien Tsien in recognition of his contributions to the fields of cell biology and neurobiology at the 181st Congregation held on December 8 (Tuesday).
The University will confer the Doctor of Science honoris causa upon Professor Tsien and other Degrees on the class of 2009. The Pro-Chancellor of HKU, Dr the Honorable David Li Kwok Po, will preside over the Congregation. Dr Leong Che-hung, Chairman of the Council of HKU, will be a member of the procession. HKU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Lap-Chee Tsui, and Professor Tsien will address the ceremony.
A total of 6,830 graduands will be conferred degrees at the Congregation this year. Among them, 292 graduands are at the doctoral level and 2,815 at the master level. A total of 3,723 graduands will receive bachelor degrees.
