The event offers a rare opportunity to join in a conversation with noted international financier and philanthropist George Soros. Mr. Soros will not give a lecture. Instead, he will answer questions from a panel of experts and the audience. The Conversation will continue the discussions arising from Mr. Soros' recent lectures at Central European University, Budapest.
Members of the panel include Professor Richard Wong, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Chair of Economics at HKU, HKU economics Professor Chenggang Xu, who has served as consultant for the World Bank and the IMF; Ms. Robyn Meredith, senior editor (Asia) of Forbes magazine, and Mr. Jeffrey Timmermans, business journalism lecturer at the Journalism and Media Studies Centre, HKU. The panel discussion and the Q and A session will be moderated by Prof Wong.
The final Budapest lecture, "The Way Forward," was telecast live at HKU on October 30, 2009. Videos, and the English and Chinese translations of the lectures series, titled " Open Society, the Financial crisis, and the Way Forward, " are available at : www.soros.org/soroslectures
