International Higher Education Conference - Higher Stakes: Managing University Reputation in a Competitive World
18 Jun 2010
Higher education around the world has never been as globally interconnected as it is today. Near-instantaneous access to information worldwide means that university stakeholders make their decisions based on not just facts, but also perception or impression. In other words, reputation is now more important than ever.
This two-day World 100 Conference, organized by World 100 Reputation Network and the University of Hong Kong (HKU), on June 22-23 will address university reputation management from a variety of angles. The Honourable Michael Suen Ming-yeung, Secretary for Education, will deliver an opening speech at the conference.
As rankings have become part of the global ‘brand' of universities, plenary discussions including Rankings and Repute, How Can Rankings Be Improved, and Mapping and Measuring Reputation in Other Ways will be held to explore important issues on what difference rankings will make to a university, and how world ranked universities use their own ranked positions to boost reputations, etc.
Speakers from 12 world ranked universities from Europe, the US, China, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand; and representatives from major ranking institutions including Times Higher Education and Shanghai Jiao Tong University will address the audience and share their thinking on issues such as strategy, reputation, communications, branding and international relations.
