International Research Skills Development Programme 2010 (July 20-23, 2010) - The University of Hong Kong Graduate School

Imperial College London, The University of Hong Kong (HKU) Graduate School and Shanghai Jiaotong University, will co-organize a 4-day residential programme, "International Research Skills Development Programme" at HKU from July 20-23, 2010.
The course, mainly for early stage PhD students, is based on the award winning tranferable skill programme regularly run by Imperial College London. Instructors come from Imperial College London and this Hong Kong based course is specially designed to strengthen the international links among the institutions on one level and the students on another. It also offers participants an enhanced awareness of international career paths within and beyond academia as well as a deeper inter-cultural understanding. The primary purpose of the course is to enhance both the personal and research effectiveness of participants. Furthermore, it exposes students to a new learning environment, meet people from around the globe and have fun.
A total of 48 research postgraduate students from Imperial College London, Shanghai Jiaotong University and HKU will attend the programme. The course adopts an interactive teaching mode which focuses on experiential learning, achieved through a series of challenging group tasks. Topics include PhD planning and management, creativity, group dynamics and team roles, academic career, conflict and collaboration and successful collaboration.
The programme runs from 9:30am to 5:30pm each day from July 20 to 23, 2010 in Rooms TS303, TS403 and TS404 in T. T. Tsui Building in the Main Campus, The University of Hong Kong.
