Inaugural Symposium of “C9+1”Universities in China:“Re-envisioning Undergraduate Education”
17 Sep 2010
Vice presidents and representatives who mastermind the undergraduate curriculum reforms at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) and the top nine universities in China will share their views on issues relating to undergraduate curriculum and student learning in a symposium to be held at HKU from September 20 to 21.
The league of nine top universities, commonly referred to as C9, composes of Tsinghua University, Peking University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Fudan University, Zhejiang University, Nanjing University, University of Science and Technology in China, Harbin Institute of Technology and Xi'an Jiao Tong University.
The symposium, entitled "Re-envisioning Undergraduate Education", will mark the strengthening of collaboration between HKU and the C9 universities. During the two day symposium, participants will together re-envision the goals of and revisit the various issues in undergraduate education. This is in light of the change in undergraduate education in Hong Kong from three-year to four-year in 2012, and the release of National Outline for Medium and Long-term Education Reform and Development (2010-2020) as blueprint for higher education development in the Mainland.
At the symposium, each university will introduce their reform of the curriculum, and the motivations and objectives underlying the reforms. Building on the input from participants, a collective response on how the universities can better prepare the students for the 21st century can hopefully be reached.
You are cordially invited to a photo taking and briefing session of the vice presidents and representatives of the universities. Details are as follows:
Date: September 21, 2010 (Tuesday)
