"Keeping the Internet Open” Google’s experience

Mr. Ross LaJeunesse, Head of Public Policy and Government Affairs, Google Inc, Asia is invited by the Law and Technology Centre, Faculty of Law of the University of Hong Kong (HKU) to deliver a talk on Wednesday (September 29).
Mr. LaJeunesse oversees the company's relationships with governments and policymakers throughout the Asia Pacific region, and advises Google on data security, internet privacy, free speech and numerous other issues affecting the company's operations and products. In the talk, he will share his views on why it is important and Google's experience defending an open Internet in the Asia Pacific region, including China.

Mr Ross LaJeunesse
Ross LaJeunesse is Head of Public Policy and Government Affairs for Google Inc. in Asia. He oversees the company's relationships with governments and policymakers throughout the Asia Pacific region, and advises Google on data security, internet privacy, free speech and numerous other issues affecting the company's operations and products.
Before joining Google, LaJeunesse served as Deputy Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor to California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Prior to that, he was Chief of Staff to California Controller Steve Westly, the state's chief financial officer. He began his career as an assistant to United States Senate Majority Leader George J. Mitchell and went on to serve on the staff of Senator Edward M. Kennedy, where he was Senator Kennedy's chief advisor on reinventing government, and national and community service issues.
LaJeunesse received his law degree with honors from the Harvard Law School. He graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Dartmouth College with a degree in Asian Studies.
