HKU’s Scientists Bring New Hopes to Translate Human Stem Cell Technologies to the Clinic

In the past year, researchers at the University of Hong Kong Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine have taken stem cell research few steps closer to the ultimate clinical application with certain important breakthroughs. The team of cardiologists and scientists not only found a new way to generate human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs), but also further applied the technology to develop new diagnostic and therapeutic strategies, allowing the scientists to better understand the development of various incurable or genetic diseases such as limb ischemia and progeria. A press conference will be held to introduce these findings and breakthroughs. Details are listed as follows:
