Who decides Hong Kong's cultural future? A Leading Change forum to examine UK success

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) and The British Council will jointly hold a public forum on cultural leadership this Friday (January 21) with leading artistic and cultural professionals from UK sharing their experiences of leading change within the sector.
The speakers, presented by the HKU's Advanced Cultural Leadership Programme and the UK's Clore Leadership Programme, will offer their insights into how they have anticipated, and responded to, change within arts and cultural institutions. Regional and local respondents will interact with UK's cultural figures and exchange their experiences in addressing the issues facing Hong Kong.
Sir John Tusa, Chair of the Clore Leadership Programme, and a former Managing Director of the BBC World Service and of the Barbican Centre in London, will analyse in his keynote speech the challenges he faced during his time at these organisations. Other speakers include John Newbigin, Chairman of Screen England and Culture24, Fearghus O'Conchuir, an independent Choreographer and Dance Artist and Sue Hoyle, Director of the Clore Leadership Programme, who has held several senior arts management positions.

About the Advanced Cultural Leadership Programme at HKU
The Advanced Cultural Leadership Programme (ACLP) is the first cultural leadership programme in Asia, designed to meet this challenge, providing outstanding cultural leaders with the practical skills, intellectual perspectives and global networks needed to seize new opportunities, strengthen their organisations and deliver a world-class vision. The Public Forum on ‘Leading Change' is the culmination of the first ACLP Retreat. 15 local and overseas ACLP participants will interact with 15 international and regional speakers at the retreat, bringing a global perspective to the region's unique needs and sensibilities.

The Clore Leadership Programme is an initiative of the Clore Duffield Foundation which aims to strengthen leadership across a wide range of creative and cultural activities, including the visual and performing arts, film, heritage, museums, libraries and archives, creative industries and cultural policy and administration.
