An Afternoon with the Chief Executive

The Chief Executive (CE), Dr. the Honourable Donald Tsang met 40 social sciences students at The University of Hong Kong for an informal tea gathering this afternoon (January 21). The event, co-organized by the Faculty of Social Sciences and Social Sciences Society of the HKU Student Union (HKUSU), aims at providing a platform for students and government officials to exchange and share views on various local issues and beyond. The CE and his delegation mixed with students for active and enthusiastic conversations under the relaxing atmosphere over tea and snacks.
HKU's Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Lap-Chee Tsui, in his welcoming remark expressed deep appreciation to the CE and his officials for spending the afternoon with students.
The following four government officials accompanied the CE and participated in the gathering:

Students treasure this memorable occasion in expressing their views freely and look forward to having more opportunities to interact with various senior officials and other community leaders. Mr. Chan Pak Hong, Paco, the Chairman of Social Sciences Society, HKUSU said, "we have come up with some concrete ideas with the CE and the government officials during the chit-chat on how to improve and enhance communication between youth and the government. We both agreed to have further discussion and cooperation."
Miss Leung Chi Ying, a Bachelor of Social Sciences Year 2 student, said, "I am impressed by his commitment to the betterment of Hong Kong. I can almost feel the tears in his eyes when he talks about how difficult it is to gain support from youth." Students have expressed that this tea gathering has enhanced their understanding about the government and the dedication of the senior officials.
