The Vice-Chancellor's Cup Soccer Match
The annual Vice-Chancellor's Cup between The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and The University of Hong Kong (HKU) will be held this Sunday (March 6) at the stadium soccer pitch of the Stanley Ho Sports Centre. The Vice-Chancellors of HKU Professor Lap-Chee Tsui and CU Professor Joseph J.Y. Sung will officiate the opening and the kickoff. It is the 8th soccer match this year since it was first played in 2003 to commemorate the collaboration of the two universities during the SARS ordeal.

Centenary Distinguished Lecture by Professor Sir Andrew Motion - Poetry in Life
Professor Sir Andrew Motion, Poet Laureate of the United Kingdom 1999-2009, will in the talk speak about the way that poetry came into and continues to form a central part of his own experience (as a writer and a reader), and also to reflect on the ways in which poets transform the details of their experience to make their work, and also to say something about the way he thinks poetry should form a central part of individual and social life - rather than being viewed as a strange adjunct.

Reporter's Notebook: Inside a Chinese Factory Town
In his new book Country Driving, award-winning writer Peter Hessler gives many enduring portraits of life in China - including life in the factory towns of Southern China. Hessler will tell how he did the research that led to his compelling account of change inside one of those towns, Lishui, located in one of China's special economic zones. Peter Hessler is a staff writer at The New Yorker, where he served as the Beijing correspondent from 2000 to 2007, and is also a contributing writer for National Geographic.
