The Fifth Inauguration of Endowed Professorships at HKU

The Fifth Inauguration of Endowed Professorships will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at the University of Hong Kong (HKU). The ceremony will be officiated by HKU Pro-Chancellor Dr the Honourable David Li Kwok-Po, and presided by HKU Vice-Chancellor Professor Lap-Chee Tsui. Twelve Endowed Professorships including a Distinguished Visiting Professorship will be established (attached list of Endowed Professorships and Donors).
An "Endowed Professorship" is one of the most significant awards bestowed upon eminent academics within the University of Hong Kong. The generous donation will become a perpetual endowment in a designated discipline, as the Endowed Professor upholds a proud tradition of excellence. A total of 54 Endowed Professorships have been established at HKU since 2005.
An Advisory Committee ensures the appointments to the Endowed Professorships are made in accordance with established University procedures. The Committee members include Dr Raymond Ch'ien (Chairman), Professor Kai-Ming Cheng, Dr York Liao, Professor Felice Lieh-Mak and Ms Mary Ma.
