“Hong Kong - Shanghai Future Leaders Internship Program 2011”

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) has collaborated with the Hong Kong-Shanghai Youth Exchange Promotion Association to arrange for the first time thirty HKU students to take up summer internships in some of the leading companies in Shanghai.
Ms. Tong Shu Lan, Vice Head of Youth Development Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government; Ms. Kitty Yu, Principal Assistant Secretary of Home Affairs; Mr. Andrew Yao, JP, President of Hong Kong-Shanghai Youth Exchange Promotion Association; and Dr. Albert Chau, HKU Dean of Student Affairs officiated at a ceremony to kick off the event today (May 21) at HKU.
A total of 30 students were selected from among 300 applicants to take up various internship posts at leading Mainland and overseas companies in Shanghai including consulting firms, banks, private equity firms, property developers, law firms and entreprises. Under an executive shadowing scheme with the companies, the students will have the opportunities to know about the decision-making and strategic planning at senior management levels. During the two months' stay in Shanghai, they will also join a group of Harvard students for a series of activities including leadership training, visits and social services.
