The 6th Collaboration Agreement Signing Ceremony between HKU and The State Language Commission of China

Putonghua education plays an important role in Hong Kong with a view of the integration of Hong Kong and the Mainland in economic, social and cultural aspects. The close tie between The Hong Kong Putonghua Education and Assessment Centre (HKPEAC), HKU and The State Language Commission of China HKU has entered a memorable time as this year marks the 15th anniversary for promoting Putonghua education in Hong Kong.
The 6th Collaboration Agreement between the two parties was signed by Professor Lap-Chee Tsui, Vice-Chancellor of HKU and Professor Yao Xishuang, Director of The Mandarin Training and Testing Centre, The State Language Commission of China, with guests from Education Bureau of PRC and Dean of Education, HKU, Professor Steven Andrews as witness.
The students of the Centre performed at the Ceremony. Performances included a cappella of Beijing Opera and a comic dialoguee. Also a group of foreign students studying Elementary Chinese course in the Centre sung a familiar Mandarin pop song. Their performances received loud applause.
