- When would be the best time to send my child for overseas study?

Asian American Journalists Association - Asia Chapter and the Journalism and Media Studies Centre Launch First Joint "New Media Conference"
The Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) - Asia Chapter and the Journalism and Media Studies Centre (JMSC) are co-hosting the inaugural "AAJA-JMSC New Media Conference" on June 10-12, 2011 at The University of Hong Kong. The conference will examine the opportunities and transformations in journalism through panels including, "Top Tech Tools of Journalism 2.0," "The Post J-Life" and a resume critique session. The event opens with a professional networking event with panelists and speakers, and will include optional culinary, cultural and hiking events led by AAJA's Hong Kong members. All are welcome.

HKU and the University of Latvia to sign Memorandum of Understanding on Co-operation
The University of Hong Kong (HKU) and the University of Latvia will sign a Memorandum of Understanding on June 13 (Monday) seeking to strengthen bilateral relations in the field of education and scientific research. HKU Vice-Chancellor Professor Lap-Chee Tsui will represent HKU at the signing ceremony in the presence of Prime Minister of Latvia, the Honorable Mr. Valdis Dombrovskis.
After the ceremony, Prime Minister Dombrovskis will address the participants and speak on his new book "How Latvia Came through the Financial Crisis". The book is written in collaboration with Senior Fellow of the Peterson Institute for International Economics Anders Åslund to provide a case study on the Latvian resolution to the financial crisis.

Book Launch: Educational Innovations Beyond Technology
The book, Educational Innovations Beyond Technology, written by Professor Nancy Law, Dr Allan Yuen and Dr Robert Fox examines the successful implementation of information and communication technology (ICT) in numerous case studies from developed and developing countries, not only in terms of test scores and classroom results, but also the creative and visionary strategies and practices of teachers, administrators and policymakers in bringing about system-wide ICT-based change.
Professor Nancy Law is the Associate Dean of the Faculty of Education, HKU and Director of Centre for Information and Technology in Education (CITE), Dr Allan Yuen and Dr Robert Fox are Associate Professors and Deputy Directors of CITE. In the book launch, the authors will address the following issues:
- What are the roles of student and teacher in the ICT-supported classroom?
- Is technology initiative only the use of electronic devices such as e-books?
- What makes technology innovations sustainable?
- What are the challenges to the existing education practice, organization structure and leadership mechanisms by implementing transformative uses of technology?
