HKU appoints Dean of Education

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) is pleased to announce today (July 28) the appointment of Professor Stephen Andrews, Professor and Interim Dean of the Faculty of Education, as the new Dean of Education for a term of five years from as soon as possible.
The appointment was made by the Council of the University subsequent to a worldwide search, and on the recommendation of a search committee chaired by HKU Vice-Chancellor Professor Lap-Chee Tsui.
Professor Andrews joined the Faculty of Education in September 1990, and is widely recognized for his academic accomplishments internationally. During his 21 years of meritorious service with the University, Professor Andrews has made substantial contributions in teaching and learning, research as well as administration. Apart from playing a leadership role in curriculum development and innovation, he has held a number of senior administrative positions in the Faculty. He is well versed with the local education scene, and possesses proven management experience, outstanding inter-personal skills, in addition to visionary leadership
Professor Tsui is pleased that the Council has approved the appointment. He said: "I have full confidence that the Faculty will continue to flourish under his able leadership and with the support of members of the Faculty."
