ONC Conference on Law Reform "Does Law Reform need Reforming in Hong Kong?"
The Centre for Comparative and Public Law of The University of Hong Kong and ONC Lawyers will co-host a Conference on Law Reform. Eminent international experts, academics, members of the profession will explore and discuss issues centering around Hong Kong's law reform process, in particular:
- How is HK's law reform mechanism serving us?
- Do we need any change to our law reform machinery?
- Are they any lessons we could learn from English and other Commonwealth countries?
- What should the Government do to make our law reform mechanism serve our social and economic developmental needs?

HKU and China National Pharmaceutical Group Corporation to sign Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement
The University of Hong Kong (HKU) and China National Pharmaceutical Group Corporation (Sinopharm) will sign a Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement on September 19(Monday).
This is the first time an agreement is signed between HKU and a national pharmaceutical group. The move is an important step to mark the cooperation of the two institutions in translational pharmaceutical research and development.
HKU Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Lap-Chee Tsui and President of China National Pharmaceutical Group Corporation Mr She Lulin will be the signees representing the two parties respectively at the ceremony. Details of the ceremony are as follows:

Bridging Cultures: Hong Kong and the Open Internet
To celebrate the open Internet in Hong Kong, Google and Journalism and Media Studies Centre at the University of Hong Kong co-host the event that looks at the important role Hong Kong plays as a center for cultural exchange in a cosmopolitan and digital age.

Public lecture : "What's Math got to do with it?
To the general public, Math has been one of the most inscrutable among scientific disciplines. Not only is the language of Math difficult for a lay person to penetrate, it is also often not obvious why it is relevant to everyday life. In fact, Math is both ubiquitous and central to many technologies that we rely on every day. In this talk, intended for general audience, Professor Tony F Chan, President and Chair Professor of Department of Mathematics, HKUST will give some examples to illustrate this unexpected role of Math from a personal perspective.
