HKU Academy for the Talented admits second cohort of outstanding secondary school students

A total of 371 outstanding secondary four and five students from 41 local secondary schools have been admitted by the Academy for the Talented of the University of Hong Kong (HKU) to take part in various activities to experience campus life.
This has been the second cohort of students admitted since the launching of the Academy in 2011. At the Inauguration Ceremony held on February 11, HKU Vice-Chancellor Professor Lap-Chee Tsui welcomed the new members and expressed his expectation of them as new leaders of the community who will "make significant contributions and a difference to the society".
The students will participate in a wide range of intellectually challenging and enrichment courses, learning from community leaders and academics from various disciplines, and experiencing campus life at HKU while having fun in meeting and interacting with other talented students.
Members in the first cohort took part in a diverse range of academic and enrichment activities including workshops, credit-bearing programmes and community service in Sichuan Province joining students from overseas universities.
