Professor Tony Fung elected Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science

Professor Tong Fung Wing Kam, Chair Professor of the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science of the University of Hong Kong (HKU), has been named a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
As part of the Section on Statistics, Professor Fung was elected by the AAAS Council for his significant contributions to statistical DNA forensics, robust statistics, professional services, dissemination of statistical knowledge.
In 2011, 539 AAAS members were elected as Fellows because of their scientifically or socially distinguished efforts to advance science or its applications. They received the award at the AAAS Fellows Forum held in Canada in February 2012.
Professor Tony Fung Wing Kam
Professor Fung is Chair Professor of the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science of the University of Hong Kong. He is a fellow of American Statistical Association and Institute of Mathematical Statistics. He was recipient of the prestigious Croucher Senior Research Fellowship in 2008. His research interests include statistical diagnostics, robustness, longitudinal data analysis, DNA profiling, forensic statistics and genetic epidemiology.
