Arts Farewell to the Main Building: A New Chapter in Our History

The Faculty of Arts will not only be celebrating its Centenary in 2012 but will also be leaving its home for nearly a hundred years and moving to its new building in the Centennial Campus. To mark this new chapter in our history, the Faculty is holding an Arts Farewell to the Main Building event that will bring together Arts staff, students, alumni, and friends, in a celebration of our time in this iconic building at the heart of the University.
The event, which will be held in Loke Yew Hall, will include Opening Remarks by The Honourable Mrs Anson Chan, GBM, GCMG, CBE, JP; poem readings by Professors Agnes Lam and Leung Ping Kwan; the presentation of the HKU Video Competition Prize by University Artists Ms Mabel Cheung and Mr Alex Law; a performance of Haydn's Farewell Symphony by the Hong Kong Chamber Orchestra; and a percussion parade around the Main Building led by University Artist Dr Lung Heung-wing.
Members of the media are cordially invited to attend the event. Details are as follows:

Time: 1:30 - 3:00 pm
Venue: Loke Yew Hall, HKU
Note: Photographers are reminded to bring their long lenses and no flash is allowed.
The event will be conducted in English.
In addition to the official ceremony at 1:30 pm in Loke Yew Hall, there will be by activities highlighting the Faculty's diversity taking place simultaneously throughout the Main Building from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
