24 May 2012
The University of Hong Kong (HKU) has collaborated with the Hong Kong-Shanghai Youth Exchange Promotion Association for a second year to arrange HKU students to take up summer internships in some of the leading companies in Shanghai. A ceremony to kick off the event was held today (May 24).
Ms. Han Shu Xia, Head of Youth Development Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government; Ms. Kitty Yu, Principal Assistant Secretary of Home Affairs; Mr. Geoffrey Kao, Chairman of Hong Kong-Shanghai Youth Exchange Promotion Association; and Dr. Albert Chau, HKU Dean of Student Affairs were the officiating guests at the ceremony.
This year, a total of 34 students have been selected from among 400 applicants. They will set off for Shanghai on June 12 to undergo a seven-week internship programme working in leading Mainland and overseas companies including business consulting firms, banks, private equity firms, property developers, law firms and enterprises. Under an executive shadowing scheme with the companies, the students will have the opportunities to know about the decision-making and strategic planning at senior management levels.
