HKU Faculty of Engineering holds Engineering Centenary Distinguished Lecture

The Faculty of Engineering of the University of Hong Kong (HKU) held yesterday (May 24) the second Engineering Centenary Distinguished Lecture entitled ""Shaping a City - Hong Kong Architects' Impact on Society" delivered by Mr Edward S T Ho, OBE, SBS, JP.
Mr Edward S T Ho, a graduate of the University of Hong Kong, is an architect by profession and is Group Chairman of Wong Tung Group of Companies. With his wide ranging architectural experience in Hong Kong, Mainland China and the US, Mr Ho reflected on how architectural graduates of the Hong Kong University since the 1950s shaped our city, their impact on our society, and opportunities and challenges for professional now and for the future. Mr Ho also gave insights on how the government's land and housing policies can be effective in controlling the cost of living and improve the quality of life.
HKU Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost Professor Roland T Chin officiated at the lecture. The lecture is sponsored by Shiu Wing Steel Ltd.
"From 1958 to 1978, the Faculties of Engineering and Architecture were under one roof - it was entitled the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture," said Professor Roland T Chin.
"The 100th anniversary is a special occasion and we would like to involve all our graduates in the past, both engineering and architecture, to reflect on our past, rejoice on our achievements, and look ahead to the future," he added.
