<24 Hours in a Tower>
Live jamming for 24 hours non-stop for the local community
Imagine creating and transmitting art non-stop for 24 hours from one of the highest points on the Centennial Campus! Peter Moser, a veteran musician from the UK, is staying on the rooftop of the Faculty of Arts, in the Run Run Shaw Tower on the Centennial Campus at the University of Hong Kong. From 12 to 13 November, he will compose a song, in response to local current affairs, every hour, for 24 hours, and broadcast them live to the world.
Peter Moser is a talented musician devoted to the development of community arts. In 1988, Peter became the Fastest One Man Band In the World, creating a never-beaten record of running 100 metres in 19.75 seconds, playing 139 instruments, wearing five colours and playing four recognisable tunes. Peter is currently the Chief Executive of More Music, a community music and education charity based in Morecambe, England. In response to the Morecambe Bay Tragedy in 2004 in which 23 Chinese workers lost their lives, Peter started The Long Walk, a unique creative reaction to the catastrophe through an ambitious international project in music and culture involving hundreds of people of all ages from Northern England and China.
The public is most welcome to exchange ideas on music and Hong Kong with him so as to enrich his compositions. All the songs he writes will result from interacting with your tweets, messages and ideas about HKU and Hong Kong that he receives real-time. He will be joined by and musically jamming with alumni of the Music Department, music groups and HKU students.

About the Talk
The author Annie Leonard is truly obsessed with stuff – where did it come from? how did it get to us? and where does it go? ... All the questions have revealed that from the moment when "stuff" is produced, it is already closely connected with us and our environment. Our purchase, use and disposal of the stuff are ruining our health and exploiting the resources of the earth. After the second world war, people believed that GDP growth would bring us better life. Humans are being enslaved by consumption. More important is that our earth is being pushed to its limit. The author believed that knowing the story of stuff is a starting point and an opportunity for change.
