HKU to Confer Honorary Degrees upon Three Outstanding Individuals at the 187th Congregation

The Chancellor of the University of Hong Kong (HKU) Dr the Honourable Leung Chun-ying will confer honorary degrees upon three outstanding individuals at the 187th Congregation on November 27, 2012 (Tuesday).
The three honorary degree recipients to be conferred at the Congregation are the Hon Mr Justice Syed Kemal Shah Bokhary, Dr Henry Cheng Kar-shun and Mr Yao Ming. The Degrees on Class of 2012 of HKU’s ten Faculties will also be conferred at the Congregation.
Honorary Degrees are awarded to individuals in recognition of their distinguished service and commitment to the University, the community, and to academia. They are also conferred to those who have made valuable intellectual, social and cultural contributions to society and the world.

Date: November 27, 2012 (Tuesday)
Time: 2:30pm to 4:30pm (Media registration from 12 noon to 1pm, please be punctual. For location of media reception counter and other details, please refer to the media advisory below)
Venue: Hall One, AsiaWorld-Expo, Lantau, Hong Kong

Fixed media positions will be set up inside Hall One and upon guest departure after the ceremony. Media representatives should stay in the media zones.

Time: 12 noon to 1pm (please be punctual)
Location: Room 100, ground floor, East Entrance, AsiaWorld-Expo (on the right side of East Entrance and next to the escalator)(map attached)
2. Video pool signals and press releases
- Live video source of the ceremony will be provided to the media. Please attribute the source to The University of Hong Kong (video signal for media in 4:3 output , not HD: cannon jack only for audio output)
- Press releases and photos of the ceremony can be downloaded from the HKU Media homepage at http://www.hku.hk/press/press-releases/ after the ceremony at around 6pm
3. Attention items
- Media representatives will be led to the media positions by HKU staff members Please stay in the area while the ceremony is in progress
- Please always show the media credential issued to you upon registration
- Photographers are reminded to bring their long lenses
