Sex, Love and Hope: Ho Style

A dress rehearsal for Sex, Love and Hope: Ho Style will be held on May 3 (Friday) at 4:15pm at the McAulay Studio of Hong Kong Arts Centre. Media representatives are invited to attend. (details in text below)
The multi-media theatre performance, initiated by Dr. Ho Sik Ying of the Department of Social Work and Social Administration of the University of Hong Kong (HKU), seeks to engage the actors and the audience in a discussion on gender, love and sex issues in Hong Kong, with an aim to generate wider discussions in the public and challenge stereotypes, stigmas and limitation of current perceptions and practices of intimacy, and to explore new ways of collaboration between academics and artists in Hong Kong with the goal to develop a multi-media teaching case on gender and sexuality education.
In the performance, Dr Ho will be playing the main character. A group of young people from Skyhigh Creative Partners. a social enterprise in Tin Shui Wai aiming to train up young people as artists, will be involved in the show’s planning and implementation.
The performance is a project under the HKU and Jockey Club joint project ExCEL3 -- "Excellence and Capacity building for Entrepreneurship and Leadership for the Third Sector", which provides funding for building the capacity of Non-Governmental Organizations and empowering civil society in Hong Kong, as well as building research and teaching capacity in the study of civil society within the University.

ExCEL3
A project jointly presented by HKU and Jockey Club. ExCEL3 -- "Excellence and Capacity building for Entrepreneurship and Leadership for the Third Sector", is a inter-disciplinary project aims to build the capacity of Non-Governmental Organizations and empower civil society in Hong Kong, as well as build research and teaching capacity in the study of civil society within the University. Through training, sharing, and research, the project seeks to nurture innovation and entrepreneurship, to strengthen the leadership, management, governance and organizational capacity of the third sector; and to build a platform that brings together philanthropist, foundations, and institutional investors with Non-Governmental Organizations, as well as the academic community.
Project2ndSpring
Sex, Love and Hope: Ho Style is a sub-project of Project2ndSpring, which is set up by Dr. Ho Sik Ying with the support of ExCEL3, with the mission to reach out to artist groups and cultural groups to develop a network to align HKU scholars, artists and artist group leaders in developing and delivering training workshops to empower local artist groups in enhancing public profiles, media relations and capacity for collaboration with other groups and organizations within the two years period of March, 2012 - Dec. 2013.
The objective of Project2ndSpring is to raise the profiles of all the participating groups via multimedia means, and to transform the knowledge gain into practice knowledge in the form of a multi-media teaching case. So far more than 20 organizations have been involved in the project. Scholars from the Faculty of Social Sciences and HKU were encouraged to join the events and engage in knowledge exchange projects. The HKU students involved in this project also benefit through service learning of capacity building for these organizations. Their leadership skills and capacity will also be enhanced. Skyhigh Creative Partners: A Jockey Club Initiative for innovative minds
A social enterprise aiming to train up young people as artists in the production of Sex, Love and Hope: Ho Style. Young people from Tin Shui Wai will be involved in the planning and implementation of the event. A documentary film will be produced to show case various intervention methods and engagement with different social organizations and groups. This event and documentary of the event will be a pioneering case and a reference for cultural groups who would like to explore new ways of sharing their vision and strategies.
