The Seventh Inauguration of Endowed Professorships at HKU
18 Apr 2013
The Seventh Inauguration of Endowed Professorships will be held tomorrow (April 19, Friday) at the University of Hong Kong (HKU). The ceremony will be officiated by HKU Pro-Chancellor Dr the Honourable David Li Kwok Po, and presided by HKU Vice-Chancellor Professor Lap-Chee Tsui. Seven new Endowed Professors and one successive appointment will be presented this year.
An “Endowed Professorship” is one of the most significant awards bestowed upon eminent academics within the University of Hong Kong. The generous donation will become a perpetual endowment in a designated discipline, as the Endowed Professor upholds a proud tradition of excellence. Since 2005, a total of 72 Endowed Professorships (including 3 Distinguished Visiting Professorships) have been established.
An Advisory Committee ensures the appointments to the Endowed Professorships are made in accordance with established University procedures. The Committee members include Dr Raymond Ch'ien (Chairman), Dr York Liao, Professor Felice Lieh-Mak and Ms Mary Ma.
