HKU responds to media enquiries on silent march by University Members

An HKU spokesperson responds to media enquiries today (October 6) as below:

“The University of Hong Kong is a place of liberty and diversity. We respect the freedom of University Members to express their views and participate in social affairs. It remains our stance that freedom should come with responsibilities and should be exercised within the law.

Academic freedom and freedom of expression, including freedom of thought, of speech and of assembly, are core values of the University which we are determined to uphold and safeguard.”
