HKU responds to media enquiries regarding meetings with University Chancellor

An HKU spokesperson responds to media enquiries today (October 10) as below:

"Both Council Chairman of the University of Hong Kong Dr. Leong Che-hung and President Professor Peter Mathieson feel that it is not appropriate to publicly comment on close-door meetings or discussions. However, in view of the recent speculations and possible unnecessary misunderstanding, they wish to make it clear that the issue about the Vice-President (Academic Staffing and Resources) appointment was never discussed in meetings with the Chancellor of the University of Hong Kong Mr. Leung Chun-ying."
