HKU holds Information Day for Undergraduate Admissions 2016
29 Oct 2016
The University of Hong Kong (HKU) held an Information Day for Undergraduate Admissions today (October 29) to provide an opportunity for prospective students to understand the academic programmes offered at the University for the 2017-18 academic year.
An opening ceremony to kick start the day’s activities was held at the Grand Hall of the Centennial Campus. Those participating included President Professor Peter Mathieson, Vice-President (Teaching and Learning) Professor Ian Holliday, Vice-President (Research) Professor Andy Hor Tzi-sum, Vice President (Global) Professor John Kao, Registrar Mr Henry Wai, Director of Undergraduate Admissions and International Student Professor John A. Spinks, and Chairman of University Admissions Committee Dr Philip Beh.
Information booths were set up by the ten Faculties and talks were held to introduce a wide variety of academic programmes including a new programme Bachelor of Finance in Asset Management and Private Banking offered by the Faculty of Business and Economics, and the Young Scientist Scheme by the Faculty of Science. Many visitors joined guided tours at the Faculty of Engineering to visit the virtual reality lab equipped with the imseCAVE system. Teaching and learning facilities and some residential halls were open to the public for a glimpse of campus life.
This year, an “HKU Admissions” app could be downloaded by visitors to assist them in planning their activities and touring the campus. The app also carried a virtual reality game which gave players special surprises during their campus visit.
