HKU Convocation to launch survey on work plan of next President and Vice-Chancellor
15 Dec 2017
(Issued on behalf of the HKU Convocation)
The University of Hong Kong has announced the appointment of Professor Xiang Zhang as the next President and Vice-Chancellor of the University, succeeding Professor Peter Mathieson who will leave the University in January 2018.
The Convocation Standing Committee is planning to launch its first online survey with a view to establishing a platform for effective communication and to building a closer tie between Professor Zhang and Convocation members, who are important stakeholders of the University.
The survey will gather members’ views on the areas which they hope Professor Zhang will give priority to, and will enable members to share their thoughts on the way our alumni may contribute to the University. We believe that the opinion collected from Convocation members will provide Professor Zhang with a useful reference in the formulation of his work plan for the University. This pioneering exercise strengthens Convocation’s role in furthering the University’s understanding of the expectation of its stakeholders and should be beneficial to the University’s long term development.
The survey is scheduled to be conducted within the first quarter of next year. The consolidated findings will be reported to members and submitted to Professor Zhang for his consideration.
