HKU has the highest proportion of research scoring 4 stars, i.e. of world-leading quality, by Panel and by Unit of Assessment. Out of a total of 13 broad panel areas assessed, HKU is rated the best in 6 areas, namely Biology, Health Sciences, Computer Science/Information Technology, Law, Humanities, and Education. Of the 37 disciplines (Unit of Assessment) in which HKU was assessed, HKU has the highest percentage of 4 stars ratings in 18 of them.
HKU President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Xiang Zhang thanked University members for their commitment and hard work. He said: “The University will continue to strive for excellence in its research endeavours in the coming years. The RAE results will help inform our overall strategic planning and also provide a framework to help guide the research of each of our disciplines towards creating a positive impact on society.”
