The Asia Global Institute is pleased to welcome 15 individuals to Hong Kong as part of the AsiaGlobal Fellows Program 2022. The 15 up-and-coming global influencers in politics, policy-making, business and civil society will be staying in Hong Kong from September 12 to November 19.

All 15 Fellows are accomplished individuals with strong leadership potential in politics, policy making, business and civil society. They are:

• Sanja Arežina, a policy counselor with the Government of the Republic of Serbia who provides political analysis and advice to the President and Prime Minister;
• Sebastian Contin Trillo-Figueroa, a former member of Parliament in the Aragonese Corts, Spain and an outspoken advocate against populism;
• Dalaya Esayiyas, a senior advisor to the Land Bank and Development Corporation of Ethiopia;
• Rodrigo Garcia, a Bolivian startup CEO who endeavors to mitigate climate risks for farmers in developing countries with climate insurance products;
• Ebrahim Hashem, a former strategic adviser to the chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office;
• Taeyoung Kim, a Medecins Sans Frontieres human resources specialist who supports the organization’s international development cooperation and humanitarian work in Southeast Asia and Eastern and Southern Africa;
• Kadidia Konare, a former special advisor to the president of the Republic of Mali and currently a senior investment officer in infrastructure investments at the International Finance Corporation;
• Sharon Low, a Singapore-based advocate for health equity in the Asia Pacific region through building impactful partnerships;
• Stjepan Mandic, a Croatian advisor to the European Commission’s flagship innovation programs which aims to increase Europe’s competitiveness and resilience;
• Bakhrom Radjabov, head of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Uzbekistan and an adjunct professor in international relations;
• Sergio Ruiz, a former chief of staff and secretary general at the Ecuadorian vice president’s office overseeing development of trade and environmental policies;
• Mher D Sahakyan, founder and director of the China-Eurasia Council for Political and Strategic Research in Armenia, which focuses on Chinese and Eurasian defense and security;
• Nima Tshering, a lead policy advisor to the Royal Government of Bhutan on reforming and transforming social policies in Bhutan;
• Sagina Walyat, a constitutional and human rights lawyer in India who endeavors to narrow the legal literacy gap, especially among women; and
• Jason Yip, an HKU alumnus and a CEO of a think tank on youth policy in Hong Kong.

Launched in 2017 by the Asia Global Institute at The University of Hong Kong, the residential program aims to nurture future leaders and create influencers with a deeper understanding of global issues from Asian perspectives.

The AsiaGlobal Fellows Program is generously supported by the New World Development Charity Foundation and Tanoto Foundation,. During their stay, the Fellows will be available for press interviews and speaking engagements.
