The University of Hong Kong is deeply saddened by the recent passing of Dr Paul Chow Man Yiu, a beloved alumnus and an outstanding leader in the field of financial innovation and technology. Paul’s unwavering dedication to promoting the city’s financial development throughout his life has left an indelible mark on Hong Kong.
Paul was a distinguished alumnus of the University of Hong Kong, having graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1970 and then obtaining a Master of Business Administration from the University. In 2007, he was awarded an Honorary University Fellow in recognition of his outstanding achievements in the financial industry and his selfless dedication to society.
Paul’s achievements in the financial industry and his selfless dedication to society are an inspiration to us all. He was a man of integrity, humility, and sincerity, and his commitment to social affairs and serving public welfare organisations was unwavering, despite his busy schedule.
Throughout his life, Paul remained deeply connected to his alma mater, the University of Hong Kong, and dedicated his heart and professional wisdom to the institution. He held various roles, including Treasurer and a member of the Council and Court of the University, and worked tirelessly to support the University’s mission and values.
The University of Hong Kong extends our deepest condolences to Paul’s family and friends. We recognise the immeasurable loss felt by all who knew him and are grateful for the time we had with him. Paul’s invaluable contribution and farreaching influence on Hong Kong will inspire future generations and stay with us forever. We will continue to honour his legacy by upholding our motto “Sapientia et Virtus” and serving the community to the best of our ability.
