The theme of the Fair is: “A Healthy Life: It's Your Choice”. It will feature an interactive display, staffed by our student nurses in the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, who will conduct various health status assessments, individual health counseling and provide basic health education. Its purpose is to encourage individuals to develop an awareness of how to maintain a healthy life. Through this health fair, the Department also hopes to increase the public's understanding of the nurse's role in health maintenance and promotion.
Since its establishment at the Faculty of Medicine, the University of Hong Kong in September 1995, the Department of Nursing Studies has aimed to educate a new generation of nurses: nurses who possess a sound body of knowledge capable of providing holistic care for clients in all settings. They are able to integrate knowledge from theory, research and practice in the care of clients; participate to shift the focus of illness and cure to health promotion and disease prevention; develop collaborative and strategic plans to co-create conditions for healthy living, learning, and working. The new generation of nurses is able to provide leadership in directing and shaping healthcare as well as contribute to forming a new identity for the professional nurse.
Members of the Press are cordially invited to attend the Ceremony at 11:30 am followed by healthy lifestyle assessment exercises. For enquires, please contact Miss Winnie Lo at 2819 2604 (Tel) or 2872 6079 (Fax).
