Phoenix Clubhouse: First Psychiatric Rehabilitation Unit Receiving International Accreditation
27 Jun 2001
Psychiatric patients have been extensively labeled as the "outcast" group but they now have the opportunity to receive a first-class rehabilitation service locally. Phoenix Clubhouse is the first and only psychiatric clubhouse which has been recognized by the International Centre for Clubhouse Development (ICCD) to provide world-class rehabilitation service to people with mental disorders in Hong Kong. Under the auspices of the Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong and the Queen Mary Hospital, the Club is one of the two which has been currently certified by ICCD in the Asian region. The certification marks the success of our present psychiatric rehabilitation service in reaching international standards. It would become the role model for the Chinese community to set up this kind of service.
