Over 150 students from 31 countries and regions over the world will be participating in the conference held from July 30, to August 3, 2001.
Being the first of its kind in Hong Kong, the event is student-initiated and student-oriented. To form a network among students of 41 university institutions from every continent, to identify and to share views on global and multi-dimensional problems faced by today societies are the main aims of the conference.
At the Opening Ceremony on July 30, 2001, Mr Donald Tsang, Chief Secretary for Administration of HKSAR will give the opening speech, followed by a keynote speech by Dr David Dai-i Ho, the 1996 “Man of theYear” of Time Magazine.

As the Hong Kong SAR is positioning itself as Asia's World City, the students of the University of Hong Kong are demonstrating their creativity, energy, world vision, and most of all, their competitiveness by hosting the mini-modeled United Nations conference, the International Youth Summit 2001, organized by the students of the University of Hong Kong.
