The Opening Ceremony, to be held at 9:00 a.m. on November 30, will be officiated by Sir S.Y. Chung; Dr. Victor K.K. Fung, HKU's Council Chairman; Professor W.I.R. Davies, HKU's Vice-Chancellor; Professor C.F. Lee, HKU's Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research); Professor J.H.W. Lee, HKU's Dean of Engineering; and Professor Y.K. Cheung.
Prominent international engineering and computer science academics and experts have been invited to deliver a series of keynote lectures in the Symposium. They include: Professor Lu Yongxiang, President of Chinese Academy of Sciences; Professor Benjamin W. Wah, University of Illinois; Professor Teck-Seng Low, National University of Singapore; Professor P. Ole Fanger, Technical University of Denmark; Professors O.C. Zienkiewicz and D.R.J. Owen, University of Wales Swansea; and Professor Jin Wu, National Cheng Kung University.
Outstanding alumni of the Faculty: Professor Ronald M.C. So, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University; Ir. S.S. Lee, Secretary for Works, Hong Kong SAR Government; Ir. H.S. Kwong, Former Secretary for Works, Hong Kong SAR Government; Professor Y.W. Mai, The University of Sydney and City University of Hong Kong; Ir. Dr. The Hon. Raymond C.T. Ho, Legislative Councillor (Engineering Functional Constituency); Ir. Edmund Leung; and Professor N.W.M. Ko, The University of Hong Kong, will deliver “Distinguished Alumni Lectures”.
On day two of the Symposium, a Discussion Forum on Engineering Education will be held to chart the future direction of engineering education in the local and global contexts.
Professor E.S. Yang, Director of HKU's Jockey Club Magnetic Resonance Imaging Centre, will deliver an Inaugural Lecture to mark the end of this two-day Symposium.

HKU's Faculty of Engineering to Organise Symposium in Celebration of its 90th Anniversary

The Faculty of Engineering, one of the founding faculties of the University of Hong Kong (HKU), has contributed immensely to the community in education, research and consultancy over the past nine decades. On this memorable occasion of the 90th Anniversary of the Faculty, a two-day symposium “Engineering and You” is organized to highlight the celebration. The Symposium will be held from November 30 (Friday) to December 1 (Saturday) at the Wang Gungwu Lecture Hall of the Graduate House on the University main campus.
